Statement of Principles

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY REPUBLICAN CENTRAL COMMITTEE
STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES

Republican Commitment

 

        "The Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee supports candidates for Local, State, and Federal office that support the Republican Party and its principles. No candidate may receive the endorsement of the Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee who has within the past twelve months been a donor to, or endorser of, another registered political party or any of its candidates.

        All candidates for Local, State, and Federal Office receiving the endorsement of the Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee shall sign a copy of this Statement of Principles. If elected, their tenure in office shall be judged by the Central Committee based on their adherence to these principles."


Jurisdictional Governance

 

        "Candidates seeking the endorsement of the Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee should be vetted upon those issues affecting the jurisdictional office that they seek in accordance with the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California.

 

        We support the filling of vacancies in elective offices with candidates who support the Republican Party and its principles. We oppose any and all unelected entities not bound by oaths of office infringing upon private property rights or instituting regulations, taxes or fees."


Private Property Rights

 

        "The Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee holds inviolate the right of persons to the use of their private property, so long as they do not infringe upon another person's right to the same.

        We support the use of eminent domain only by elected officials for essential public safety and civil infrastructure projects."


Taxation and Fees

 

        "The Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee opposes tax and fee increases unless consented to by the electorate of the affected area."

 
The Environment

 

        "The Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee supports the right of elected officials to protect air quality, water quality, coastlines, and parks."

 

Organized Labor

 

        "The Santa Cruz County Republican Central Committee supports the right of private sector employees, based on voluntary association, to unionize and bargain collectively. We oppose public sector unions striking against the public safety or donating to political candidates. Accordingly, we oppose the practice of accepting donations from public sector labor unions."
